Pray For The Intercession Of Padre Pio
“Prayer is the best weapon we have; it is the key to God’s heart.” (Padre Pio)
To Padre Pio, prayer was a sacred, powerful, and healing practice. Today, thousands of people pray for Padre Pio’s intercession in their intentions and travel to the National Centre for Padre Pio to light their own prayer candles.
Prayers
O God,
You gave Saint Pio of Pietrelcina,
Capuchin priest,
the great privilege of participating
in a unique way in the passion of Your Son,
grant me
through his intercession
the grace of …
which I ardently desire;
and above all grant me the grace of
living in conformity
with the death of Jesus,
to arrive at the glory
of the resurrection.
Glory be to the Father… (three times)
St. Pio – teach us to pray with Humility so that we may be among the humble to whom the Father promised in the gospel to reveal the mysteries of His Kingdom.
St. Pio – teach us to pray with Faith that will help us to recognize the face of Jesus Himself in the poor and suffering. Support us in our hour of troubles and trials, and should we fall, let us know the joy of the sacrament of forgiveness.
St. Pio – teach us tender devotion to Mary, Mother of Christ and our Mother. To you we entrust the request of presenting our souls to the Virgin of Grace to obtain eternal salvation from the Lord.
St. Pio – you are our friend, consoler of our souls, and help of us sinners. You understand us so well, for you know what it means to suffer. To you we entrust our well-being and that of our loved ones.
St. Pio – to you we entrust our spirit that we may endure the pains we carry in our heart.
St. Pio – accompany us on our earthly pilgrimage towards the blessed Homeland, where we, too, hope to arrive to contemplate eternally the Glory of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
O glorious St Pio – to you we entrust our plea of intercession to obtain from the Divine Goodness the graces which we so ardently
desire. Welcome us under your protection, defend us from all evil, and above all, intercede for us before the Most High, Jesus Christ, so that through the forgiveness of sins we may persevere in doing good. Amen.
O God – You gave St. Pio the great privilege of participating in a unique way in the passion of Your Son. Grant me, through his intercession the grace of….[silently mention your petition]….. which I ardently desire; and above all, grant me the grace to live in conformity with the death of Jesus, to arrive at the glory of the resurrection.
Glory be to the Father…… (three times)
Hail Holy Queen……
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You.
St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus, pray for us.
This novena prayer was recited every day by Padre Pio for all those who asked for prayers. The faithful are invited to recite it daily, so as to be spiritually united with the prayer of Padre Pio.
I. O my Jesus, you have said: “Truly I say to you, ask and it will be given you, seek and you will find, knock and
it will be opened to you.” Behold I knock, I seek and ask for the grace of [insert your intention.] Our Father…Hail Mary…Glory be to the Father…Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.
II. O my Jesus, you have said: “Truly I say to you, if you ask any thing of the Father in my name, He will give it to you.” Behold, in your name, I ask the Father for the grace of [insert your intention.] Our Father…Hail Mary…Glory be to the Father…Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.
III. O my Jesus, you have said: “Truly I say to you, heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” Encouraged by your infallible words I now ask for the grace of [insert your intention.] Our Father…Hail Mary…Glory be to the Father…Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, for whom it is impossible not to have compassion on the afflicted, have pity on us miserable sinners and grant us the grace which we ask of you, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, your tender mother and ours.
Say the Hail, Holy Queen and add “St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus, pray for us”.
In 1917, Padre Pio made a pilgrimage to the oldest Shrine in Western Europe, dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel. He travelled with other townsfolk from San Giovanni Rotondo to pray to Saint Michael in the Holy Grotto. On many occasions, Padre Pio would send penitents to the Shrine to pray for the intercession and protection of Saint Michael for the salvation of their souls. He encouraged his spiritual children to have devotion to the Holy Archangel, because “you will need the help of Saint Michael living in this world!”
The Chaplet Of St. Michael
In a revelation to Sister Antonia d’Astonaco, approved in 1851, St. Michael promised the following benefits to those who would pray often the nine special invocations to the nine Choirs of Angels, to honour him and to Glorify God: an Angel from each choir will accompany you as you approach Holy Communion, and, along with Saint Michael, Holy Angels will provide continual assistance during your lifetime. After death, you will be delivered from Purgatory. These benefits and blessings are extended to your direct family.
Prayer to St. Michael
St. Michael the Archangel,
Defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray
And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host
By the power of God
Cast into hell Satan, and all evil spirits
Who prowl about the world
Seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen
“In times of darkness, holding the Rosary is like holding our Blessed Mother’s Hand” – Padre Pio
Start by making the sign of the Cross: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Then recite the Creed:
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day He rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
Then say 1 “Our Father”, 3 “Hail Mary’s” for the virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity; and then 1 “Glory Be”:
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us
this day, our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death.
Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
While meditating on the Mysteries of the day (Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious or Luminous), recite for each Mystery:
1 “Our Father”
10 “Hail Mary’s”
1 “Glory Be”
After each Mystery, the “Fatima Prayer” is said.
O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fire of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those who are in most need of Thy mercy.
All together this makes up one decade.
After the completion of the five mysteries (five decades), the “Hail Holy Queen” is said:
Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile show us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of
Christ.
Let Us Pray:
O God, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life. Grant, we beseech Thee, that by meditating on these mysteries of the most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
